The Liberal Democrat Manifesto for our Borough
The Liberal Democrats may be in coalition nationally with the Conservatives but in Spelthorne the Lib Dems are united as the only opposition to the ruling Tories. In four years we have doubled our number of Councillors whilst Labour have had none since 2003.
In this Manifesto we set out how a Liberal Democrat run Spelthorne Council will serve the 90,000 residents of our Borough 2011 to 2015. We also show the Lib Dem track record of campaigning and holding the ruling Conservatives to account since 2007.
The Lib Dem Dozen
Clear up the financial mess by boosting income and generating savings
Fix the Council's broken planning department and scrap the Tory policy of over-development
Introduce Developer Contributions to generate much needed cash
Scrap the Mauritius Twinning Link
Increase recycling and introduce a food waste collection service
Allow trees to be planted and enhance our environment
Enhance the Council-Police partnership to help tackle Crime and Disorder
Enhance scrutiny, consult and involve residents
Work to provide more family sized affordable rental housing
Continue to fight the Airtrack scheme that will harm Staines and Stanwell
