Liberal Democrats launch campaign to say NO! On-Street Parking Charges
Local Liberal Democrats have launched their campaign to fight the introduction of 
on-street parking charges across Spelthorne. Campaigner Colin Strong said "This is just plain wrong. Our town and village centres have fragile economies and need protecting. We need to support our shops."
The following roads are on the hit list to lose free on-street parking.
- Shepperton: High Street
- Sunbury Cross: The Parade
- Ashford: Church Road, Woodthorpe Road (just the parking bays by the shops), Knapp Road, Station Approach
- Staines: Knowle Green, Church Street
The Conservatives are proposing a range of tariffs to be applied to affected roads.
- High tariff (Staines): 70p per half hour or £1.40 per hour
- Medium tariff (Shepperton): 50p per half hour or £1.00 per hour
- Low tariff (Ashford and Sunbury Cross): 30p per half hour or 60p per hour
These are indicative charges and areas could see a higher tariff applied.
