Sunbury Common

Richard Dunn, Bernie Spoor and John Turner

Richard Dunn

He has been an activist and campaigner for the Liberal Democrats for many years as well as a Borough Councillor for Spelthorne. He is currently the Chairman of Spelthorne's Neighbourhood Watch along with being a Spelthorne Tree Warden

He is very concerned about the future of the Borough as it copes with the funding cuts made by central government and the pressure this puts upon Council services. He is also worried about the anticipated over development and loss of green belt as Spelthorne could become part of the urban sprawl of London.

Bernie Spoor

Bernie Spoor has lived in Sunbury for more than 40 years and has been a Councillor in Sunbury Common for the last 5 years.

Starting off in Engineering on the London Underground he then moved into computing, becoming a director in a company supporting computer networks in trading houses. He has two daughters and grandchildren, all living locally, and when relaxing Bernie takes to the water and he has his own boat.

Bernie is especially concerned about the on-going over-development of Sunbury with apparently no concern for its residents. He feels that in many ways this overdevelopment is one of the big divisions between the parties.

Having lived most of his life in Sunbury he has serious concerns for the local community and its environment. As an active member of Neighbourhood Watch. Bernie is also concerned about crime and disorder issues but is pleased that more is starting to be done for young people.

His experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds has informed his belief in valuing diversity and equal opportunities, and a commitment to protecting all aspects of the environment from cleaning up polluted air to saving Kempton Park and other green spaces for future generations to enjoy.

He joined the Spelthorne Tree Wardens to make a small contribution to redressing the loss of trees in the borough from over development and disease. He believes in openness and transparency in politics at local and national level and will work to ensure this happens in Spelthorne.
