Councillor Sandra Dunn has provided the following update on the Charlton Lane "Eco Park".

On a recent site visit around the Eco Park I was still overwhelmed by the sheer size of the project. 'Suez' are quick to tell you that the design from the roadside gives the impression that this huge structure has been softened by the curves of the Administration Building and the glass fascia. However, behind this lays the anaerobic digester and the gasification building. The stack still towers above the building and continues to be a controversial issue as it can be readily seen from quite a distance locally. It has six warning lights fitted to ensure safety of low-flying aircraft.

As a member of the Community Liaison Group, which meets 6 times a year to get updates, I have listened to news on progress and technical exchanges which 'Suez' have been tasked with to ensure the best possible design along with concerns regarding safety. This project is now running well over the scheduled date for completion and although it is at the stage for commissioning the anaerobic digester it will not be finished for many months to come.

Two new Planning Applications are due to be submitted before the end of the year one concerning the landscaping of the embankment that backs onto the railway line and the other about a recycle shop for items that can be salvaged or repaired If you have concerns please voice them via the Surrey County Council planning portal.
