The Planning Committee meeting to determine the London Irish applications in Sunbury will take place at 7:00 PM on Tuesday 27 April at Kempton Park. The Council is making arrangements for what is expected to be a very large audience.

The details of the arrangements for the meeting are yet to be confirmed, but the Council has said that they will allow more public involvement than for an ordinary application.

Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the decision to hold the Planning Committee meeting in Sunbury as this will allow many more residents to attend the meeting. LibDem Councillors have for some time been calling for better public consultation on large scale development proposals; we believe it is essential for local residents to be given the opportunity to be heard on important and sensitive applications.

London Irish have already been allowed to make a presentation directly to all Councillors in the Council Chamber. No equivalent access has been offered by Spelthorne Council to local residents groups. Liberal Democrats believe this process needs to change to overcome the bias in favour of developers.
