Tories want up to 300 MORE HGVs a day in Ashford Common

21 Jul 2013

A Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) ban in Feltham Road Ashford has come up several times as an issue. Just before the election it came up again. Cllr Ian Beardsmore raised serious issues about where the displaced traffic would go. Initially he was told there would be another look at the problem that 'Other look' was very quick and it has been decided to consult on the scheme.

No details have been finalised BUT there has been a huge row over that consultation (or if the Tories have their way) Lack of consultation. Under the initial proposal houses in Chertsey Road would be consulted, but none in any of roads that leading on to it. Neither was any sort of on-line consultation proposed.

At the time of going to press Cllr Ian Beardsmore is still fighting for a full and complete consultation involving everyone who might be affected.

Another concern is that no one seems to have thought about the effect on Spelthorne School? If Lorries did not continue down Cadbury Road because of the no right turn at the Shears they would go through the BP site to Spelthorne school. Ian Said...

"At the moment I do not know exactly how this is going to turn out. It is unlikely to be resolved much before the end of July. Whatever happens we will do our best to let you all know as soon as possible."
