What the Liberal Democrats believe
On the back of the Liberal Democrat membership card, you will find these words, taken from the preamble to the party's constitution:
"The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity." |
The Liberal Democrats are a truly democratic party. Members have a say in policy at the party conference, they can propose motions, speak, vote and be a real part of the democratic process. If you are tired of politicians who don't listen, or of policies that seem out of touch with the things that matter to you, then the Liberal Democrats' approach is refreshingly egalitarian.
