Liberal Democrats working for you at Spelthorne Borough Council

27 Apr 2023

The existing group of Spelthorne Liberal Democrat councillors have represented areas in Sunbury, Halliford and Staines for the last four years. Being a councillor is both an honour and a responsibility and all the Lib Dem councillors have taken their work very seriously.

Five of the councillors Chris Bateson, Michele Gibson, Sandra Dunn, Kathy Grant and Lawrence Nichols, are standing for re-election. Richard Dunn and Bernie Spoor are standing down to take a well earned retirement and Tom Fidler is moving out of the area following a change of employment. They have worked together as a team making sure that expertise is shared and helping to resolve issues collaboratively. As a group of eight councillors out of 39, the Liberal Democrat councillors have consistently managed to punch above our weight.

With your help we can get more Liberal Democrat councillors elected and have a bigger say in the way the Council is run. Councillors have to deal with a lot of issues ranging across planning, environment, waste and recyling collection, regeneration and affordable housing amongst other things. When you elect a Liberal Democrat you get a committed councillor who will listen to residents and work hard for their local area. We are also committed to working across party to get the best possible outcomes, rather than having a slavish adherence to a fixed party line.
