On 5th November Spelthorne launched its 9-week consultation on its Local Plan. Over the next 15 years Spelthorne is planning to build nearly 10,000 new homes and this will completely change the character of parts of the borough. Spelthorne has a target to build at least 603 new homes per year for the next 15 years.

Spelthorne Council refuses to face the reality of Climate Change

At the Council meeting on 24th October Spelthorne's Tory Councillors refused to face up to the reality of Climate Change and choose to endorse empty statements that avoided showing any leadership and preferred to deny the gravity of the current climate emergency. Two motions were put to the Council meeting which paid lip service to the current environmental situation but fell short of any real action.
